The U.S. Navy overhauled their digital footprint that tours across America in effort to entertain guests and excite prospects.

In collaboration with Helios, we created an interactive experience that immerses audiences with VR gameplay, riffing off the tagline, “There’s no tech like Navy tech.”

Guests stand at the wheel and begin a simulation as a SWCC (Special Warfare Combatant-Craft) crewman driving a SOC-R (Special Operations Craft – Riverine). The mission is to safely extract Navy SEALS from enemy threat. Upon completion, guests are directed to their debrief and receive their game score, followed by a video message from the US Navy.

Guests register before entering the trailer and they are issued their own unique RFID dog tag. To begin the exprience, guests tap their dog tags on the RFID scanner to initiate the mission briefing video. Next, guests are equipped with a SUBPAC, a rumbling backpack, to enhance the VR experience with haptic feedback.

Process Overview

The US Navy VR Recruiting project involved a broad range of experts. To successfully execute this project, we tightly collaborated to produce scripts, storyboards, animatics, style frames, CG art, videos, animations, UI design, audio engineering, C++ and HTML.

A Visit to Fort Knox

Helios, Wunderman and the US Navy sent several team members to Fort Knox to research and see a glimpse of the day in the life of SWCC crewmen. Needless to say, it was an experience of a lifetime to witness their daily routine, engage in after-hours unwinding and experience a training ride-along which included live fire.
